Preparing to run the Las Vegas Ragnar Relay in a few days. Right now, I’m working on getting a new running playlist put together. Assuming I can maintain my usual pace, I should be hearing this one just about the time I cross the finish line.

My birthday is a few days after Christmas. However, what I wanted for my birthday wasn’t yet an option, so I had to settle for a pre-order. Finally, two months later, the UPS guy was kind enough to drop off my present.

Understanding Pac-Man Ghost Behavior
I’ve shared this link before, but after attending today’s GDC session: Classic Game Postmortem - Pac-Man, I think it’s worth sharing again.
During the session, Iwatani spoke quite a bit about the process behind creating the game, showed off his original notebook and sketches for the design and animation of Pac-Man (awesome!), and showed a few videos demoing some of the awesome projects his students at Tokyo Polytechnic University have been working on.
(I got a kick out of his reasoning for making the ghosts look as cute as they do - it was originally to try and entice female players into playing the game. He mentioned that arcades were typically full of guys, and were dark and stinky. He figured by getting more girls to play, it might brighten things up a bit. ;)
